Population/Language

Cebu province has a total population of more than 3 million. The native language used is Cebuano. While the Filipino language is commonly understood and spoken, English is widely used in business transactions and education.

WHAT TO WEAR

You will feel more comfortable with the balmy weather in Cebu by wearing lightweight clothing. Bring your sunglasses and hats (or umbrella) as you enjoy the sights and sounds of the islands. Wear sturdy and comfortable footwear when going out for a walk. This makes it easier to trudge areas where the roads go up and down and sometimes stretch for miles and miles.

ELECTRICAL APPLIANCES

Most areas in Cebu are supplied with 220 volts, 60 cycle. A plug with 2 flat parallel prongs is used.

MONEY MATTERS

The Philippine peso is the currency used across Cebu. Foreign currencies are not readily accepted at almost every establishment. But foreign money can easily be converted at any bank and authorized money changer on the islands. Ask also your hotels if they can change your money to pesos. Have ready cash available with you, preferable in smaller bills, because credit cards are accepted only at major establishments. All major credit cards are widely accepted in the city, however, in the rural areas, local currency is preferred.

BUSINESS HOURS

Commercial banks in Cebu have 24-hour internet banking and ATM services where you can do your transactions at your convenience. If the transaction requires you to be physically present in the bank, be sure to beat their 9 am-3 pm office hours. Government agencies hold offices daily from 8 am to 5 pm, while private firms are open from 9 am to 6 pm and on Saturday, from 9 am to 12 noon. Department stores and shopping malls operate from 10 am to 8 pm and is open during Sundays and holidays.

TIPPING

Bellhops, waiters, taxi drivers, hairdressers, beauticians and porters expect a tip. Most hotels and restaurants add 10% service charge on top of government tax. A 5-15% tip of the bill is appropriate if service charge is not included.

GETTING AROUND TOWN/MODES OF TRANSPORTATION

By Land:

Car/Auto/Limo Rentals- the most comfortable way to get around the islands.

Taxi – can be spotted at almost every major thoroughfare in the city.

Bus – the cheapest means of transportation around Cebu esp. if you are going to cover long distances

Jeepney – rub elbows with the locals in the famous Filipino commuter vehicle for city trips.

Tricycle – great especially in the trails where accessibility is rather difficult for larger motorized vehicles.

Habal-habal – a quick way to move around Cebu going to remote areas.

Tartanilla (horse-drawn cart) – get a feel of how Cebuanos get around in times past.

By Sea:

Banca (motorized outrigger) – for island hopping

Curious as to how these transportation looks like? Here are some photos:

As the education sector is now bringing health into focus, it is time we complete the picture and include the very people nurturing our children in school—the teachers.

We do know that teachers are one of the school’s valuable assets but too often they easily fall prey to stress. Handling classes day in and day out may sometimes take its toll thereby affecting their health and well-being and consequently their performance and productivity.

Schools are invited to join the Teacher’s Wellness Training, a unique workshop that will assist teachers in the following areas: Increase their mental and physical health; increase their productivity and reduce absenteeism; increase job satisfaction and loyalty as well as strengthen the organization’s values and culture.

Sessions include Relaxation Techniques, Sound Healing, Soothing Self-Massage, Daily Eye Exercises, Throat & Voice Care, Laughter Yoga and Mindful Eating, interspersed with motivational talks on Self Acceptance, Overcoming Self Limiting Beliefs, Gratitude Attitude and Serving with an Abundant Mindset.

Health impacts every aspect of life. Wellness programs are now gaining popularity in the workplace. Let us join the wellness campaign as we empower our teachers to create positive changes, find balance within and feel the joy of nurturing themselves so they in turn can also nurture happy and healthy students.

Contact us to schedule your Teachers’ Wellness Training today. Call us at 2543780 or 2540761 or e-mail us at info@lovingabundance.com.

Bookings are done on a first come-first served basis. Set the date and venue of your preference and have your very own Teacher’s Wellness Program.

Human Heart Nature is all about world-class natural and organic products at pocket-friendly prices. Their philosophy is about loving the Philippines, loving the environment and loving our families as they provide the safest and purest world-class ingredients for them. These are effective and affordable natural personal care products that feel as good on your skin as they do in your heart. We hope hope that you will find a sense of peace and purpose knowing that your everyday choices have a positive impact on our country and our planet.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT NATURAL ORGANIC PRODUCTS:

What are the benefits of using natural products?

Nature possesses the most potent ingredients to clean and nourish our hair and skin without the harmful chemicals. That’s why natural products are the best things you can use to care for your body.

Are natural products really as good as chemical ones?

Yes! They are much better, which is why the most privileged people have been willing to pay very high prices for them until now. Many chemical personal care products can be harmful in the long-run e.g.some common cleaning agents dry out hair and skin leading to long-term damage and premature aging. Some chemical preservatives have even been linked to cancer.

Why are your prices so much cheaper than other natural products in the shops?

Our affordable prices have been achieved because we made a decision to greatly reduce the usual profit margins. Our ingredients are the SAME as those in much higher priced brands. But most of us can only make the choice to buy what is good for us and good for the environment if the pirce of natural products drop dramatically. So since we love this country and want to save its natural beauty and since we love our people and want to provide livelihood for as many as possible, we decided to sell at lower prices so that many more people could switch to natural. We also do not incur the high costs of advertising and costly retail stores allowing us to pass on our savings to the consumers.

Can people still be allergic to natural and organic products?

Some people are allergic to natural substances such as bee pollen, nuts or eggs. If you are, you may have a reaction to a natural/organic product which contains those ingredients. However, many more people are allergic to synthetic chemicals in everyday products. Since our products do not contain these irritating chemicals, there is less likelihood of allergies to our products. If you are unsure about your allergies, please test a small amount on the inside your elbow before using it extensively.

What sort of testing is done before you release a product since you don’t test on animals?

First and foremost, we test the products on ourselves as well as our families. Our products also undergo skin irritation testing among test respondents conducted by a third party dermatologist.

Do you have re-cycling or re-filling programs for your used bottles?

We use PET (recycle code 1) bottles for most of our products. PET is a recyclable and high value plastic. Simply dispose of your empty Human Nature (use logo for preceding phrase) bottles by rinsing them thoroughly and putting them in the recycle bin together with other PET bottles such as those used in mineral water and sports drinks.

Are you BFAD registered?

Yes! Gandang Kalikasan, Inc. the company that brings you Human Heart Nature is BFAD registered with LTO number RD-II-MM-CT-0458.

OUR NATURAL SEAL

There are many “natural” products available today, but surprisingly, there is no government regulation of the term natural. This makes it very difficult for ordinary people to discern what is genuinely natural and what is mostly chemical with a few natural extracts thrown in. It is especially difficult in the Philippines, where many manufacturers simply do not list the chemical ingredients on their labels that they do not want you to see! They will only be legally obliged to disclose everything to you on their labels in the year 2011.

Here at Human Heart Nature, since we are linked closely with Gawad Kalinga which is recognized globally as a world-class Filipino movement, integrity is of the utmost importance to us. We disclose every single ingredient on our labels and when we say natural, we go to great lengths to ensure that our natural ingredients are not contaminated with chemicals. But other manufacturers may not be so careful.

As your guarantee of the integrity of our products, you will start seeing a new natural seal on our labels. To qualify for the seal:

1) The ingredients must be biodegradable and at least 95% natural (the same standard set by the Natural Products Association in the USA). Many of our products are in fact 100% natural.
2) The ingredient must come from a renewable resource with no petroleum compounds and be processed in a way which is not damaging to the environment
3) A “non-natural” ingredient is only permitted if there is no readily available natural alternative and the ingredient meets strict criteria regarding human and environmental safety and biodegradability.

So be secure knowing that when you enjoy our products, you are getting only genuinely natural goods that are the best for you, your family and the environment.
